Tower of GROUP A’s office setting for movie

by Rosanne van Tilburg on March 30, 2011

Recently the office of GROUP A and especially the spiral staircase in the tower was the setting of the graduation project of Yuko Uesu.

Yuko Uesu is a harpist with a movie camera. She is studying Lens-Based Digital Media Design course at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.
The movie and pictures were taken at the Diepeveen-building for her graduation project ‘DNA HARP’, which has a topic on spiral structure.

She tells the following about her project:

“I have been playing, recording, and taking pictures of the harp for twenty years. I thought to create a new harp that no one has seen yet. While I dissected the structure of the instrument, I found a similarity between the spiral shape and outline of the harmonic curve. This organic shape led me to develop the realm of expression further, not only 2D but 3D and 4D. DNA HARP project sets out to involve mystery, beauty and toughness of all spiral structures in surroundings.”

The works of Yuko Uesu will be exhibited at TENT museum for one month starting the 14th July 2011.

Hi Yuko !!
Very nice project. I got it from your father. Very glad to see that you can do a very interesting work in Rotterdam
I hope that Japan will have enough strength to overcome the very bad consequences of seisme and nuclear pollution and I hope that France will help your Country as much as possible.
Enjoy living in Netherlands.

Hi. Yuko!
Nice job! This is definitely a great accomplishment. I am wondering how it sounds and what it sounds like? Any systematic approach?
Anyway I look forward to seeing it someday.

Dear Yuko,

Keisuke pointed me to this site. Beautiful film! However, I suppose the following quote is a mistake and should read 2011!

The works of Yuko Uesu will be exhibited at TENT museum for one month starting the 14th July 2001.
