by Adam Visser on December 17, 2012

Construction has started on the Brooklyn Hotel, a boutique hotel at the former NDSM shipyards in Amsterdam.

As part of the redevelopment of the former forging mill the Smederij, an iconic hotel tower comprising approximately 80 rooms will be realised.

For this purpose one of the monumental pitched roofed workshops of the Smederij, will be rebuilt at a height of 30 meters. The eight floors predominantly glass hotel has a total floor area of 2,850 sqm. The top-floor is designed in line with the flanking pitched roofed workshops and reflects the historic character of the Smederij and NDSM.

The hotel will open its doors end of 2013. Client is Biesterbos.
