Guided tour municipal offices De Rotterdam

by Lolke Ket on March 13, 2015

Over hundred guests gathered last friday the 6 march in the recently completed municipal offices in De Rotterdam. Reason for this was to provide invitees the opportunity to experience this spectacular work environment and to celebrate the conclusion of a successful work process with the client, the Municipality of Rotterdam.

Organised by GROUP A, Studio Makkink & Bey – sharing the credits for the interior design – Brink Groep and SV, guided tours started from the ‘city center’ 22nd floor welcome area and restaurant, to explore the 33 floors ‘vertical city’.

Guests were shown around both ‘neighbourhoods’, the generic office environment comprising standard work spaces, meeting areas and concentration rooms, as well as ‘city squares’ and ‘parks’. The latter comprising more specific functions such as conference rooms, lounge areas, task specific meeting areas, quiet zones and service facilities.

Feed back from guests was full of enthusiasm and appreciation for the richness and unity-in-diversity of atmospheres and workspaces. When leaving everyone was handed a fabric goodiebag, kindly provided by Kvadrat and made of the leftovers of De Rotterdam specially designed fabric for upholstering the over 2,000 re-used office chairs.
