Nottdance festival in Nottingham is taking place right now!

by Janneke van der Velden on March 7, 2011

The Nottdance festival is organised by Dance4, one of our clients. ‘Not Dance’  referring to the main fascination of Dance4: the exploration of the definition of dance. Not necessary in line with the known modern dance techniques like Graham, Humphrey, Limon or Cunningham but exploring it’s extends and defining and redefining what modern dance is, could be and how it comes into existence.

“The festival’s 21st birthday feels like an important moment to recognize the coming-of-age of one of the longest running and most established dance festivals in the UK,” commented Paul Russ, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Dance4. “But, of course age isn’t everything! We’re also looking back over our contribution to testing new territories, engaging new audiences and stretching the concept of what dance may be; throughout the East Midlands, the UK and beyond.”

We are proud to have made a proposal for the future accommodation of Dance4 called Space4. Space for Dance4 and many more. A fertile place for the unexplored. Creative companies will plug in, professional dancers and choreographers (both national and international) will be accomadated and work there and at the same time Space4 will be strongly connected to the local community. It should be a welcome and easy accessible place.

Working with Dance4 is a very inspiring experience for GROUP A. Having a client that shares the same fascination for ‘creating’ is unique. We can talk on a conceptual level about how the identity of Dance4 can be expressed in the building. To me it’s refreshing to be able to discuss in what matter space, material and light create an ambiance that expresses the identity of an organization as well as having a stimulating effect the behavior of the users, whether it is interaction and exchange of knowledge or focused creating new things.
